Based on preliminary data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs,Vietnam’s Gas Imports by Market situation in June 2025 and the first six months of 2025 shows the following notable points:

Overall Situation
June 2025:
- Imports: 310,853 metric tons, equivalent to USD 189.61 million.
- Average Price: USD 610/metric ton.
- Compared to May 2025: A 33.8% increase in volume, a 29.72% increase in value, but a 3.05% decrease in price.
First Half of 2025 (H1 2025):
- Total Imports: Nearly 1.52 million metric tons, valued at over USD 985.28 million.
- Average Price: USD 648.8/metric ton.
- Compared to H1 2024: A 2.8% decrease in volume, a 2.18% decrease in value, but a 0.63% increase in price.

Detailed Analysis of Key Markets:

- Malaysia:
- The largest market, accounting for 23.8% of total import volume and 24.7% of total import value.
- June 2025: Imports significantly increased compared to May 2025 (a 324.87% increase in volume, a 295.48% increase in value, with a 6.92% decrease in price).
- First Half of 2025 (H1 2025): Increased by 49.66% in volume, 54.49% in value, and 3.22% in price compared to H1 2024.
Qatar:
- The second largest market, accounting for 13.3% of total volume and 13% of total value.
- June 2025: No imports.
- H1 2025: Decreased by 37.05% in volume and 33.9% in value, but increased by 5% in price compared to H1 2024.
China:
- Accounts for 9.29% of total volume and 10.2% of total value.
- June 2025: Decreased compared to May 2025 (a 3.92% decrease in volume, a 6.66% decrease in value, with a 2.85% decrease in price).
- H1 2025: Increased by 4.73% in volume and 2.06% in value, but decreased by 2.55% in price compared to H1 2024.
South Korea:
- Despite a small share (1.66% of total volume, 1.83% of total value), imports from South Korea in H1 2025 significantly increased compared to the same period in 2024 (a 4,662% increase in volume, a 2,699% increase in value).
- However, June 2025 imports from South Korea sharply decreased compared to May 2025 (a 33.38% decrease in volume and a 36.27% decrease in value).
Thailand:
- Continued to decline sharply, ranking at the bottom, with a decrease of over 91.67% in volume and 91.63% in value compared to H1 2024.
Overall, the value of liquefied natural gas imports in the first six months of 2025 from most markets increased compared to the same period in 2024.
